Browno - I would speculate that the ability to ski multiple events rests on the fact that XC skiing is low impact, I guess more akin to cycling than running???

The amount of events does seem like overkill to me - but it is the winter olympics and it seems there abit desperate for sports, especially if you consider how many have been added in the last decade with all the snowboarding junk etc etc.

As for ultra / XC / relays in the olympics, not gonna happen!

XC races and in particular relays would lead to athletes trying ridiculous doubles and triples and I reckon it would all get abit messy to the average punter. Compare the allure of Lasse Veren winning the double (5km & 10km) as opposed to a 10km track race and a 12 km XC race???

Would love to see ultra given ago, just because its a different discipline and it may draw some really world class athletes into the sport.
However I would say no chance - lacks punter appeal. (Although I repeatably said the same thing about 7's for many years!)

Ultra or mountain running at the commonwealth games would be mint, and I would like to think its realistic????

Imagine if Kepler was raced with a truly world class field. Imagine the helicopter flyovers of athletes gasping for air as the race along a ridge-line. The battles, the lead changes, the injuries...

I'd watch that. Better then any even on ski's no question.
